Fasting.

The therapeutics of fasting is the most ancient therapy of the humanity. Fasting has not only tremendous healing effect on the health of an individual, it holds an important role in a social history of the mankind. Let’s recall Moses, Christ, who fasted for 40 days, before getting revelations. Every religion and culture maintains the necessity of fasting and abstaining from fatty food. Different views, different approaches, methods and applications – but in one thing any culture is unanimous: me should abstain from food at least for some time. Ancient people did knew a huge role of fasting in curing diseases of body and soul and to make masses follow it,certainly the notion was ciphered in religious symbols and rites.

Our forefathers observed that after some days of fasting, an eruption of vitality and vigour show itself in the organism. Nature turns it to account for the purpose of accelerating the profits by the rest afforded to the digestive functions and by the vital machine’s slacked activity resulting from the fast to cast off the impurities and waste of the organism by every channel. In sickness, nature seeks to eliminate until the choked up ducts which are the vehicles of vitality and energy are made free and good health re-established.

What happens in the organism during a fast? We know that a great part of the energy of the organism is absorbed by the work of digestion. When we do not introduce food into the organism, then those forces which are generally absorbed by the work of digestion are freed. And these forces which are usually paralysed by the struggle against toxins introduced into the system, and occupied with the elimination of waste provoked by an irrational diet, are liberated by the rest which fasting secures. The organism begin to feed upon its own reserves and the liberated forces begin to eliminate various old local accumulations and deposits of toxin, which the organism when occupied with the daily influx of toxins has neither the energy nor time to do.

Sadly enough, but we eat far too much. We overfeed ourselves, and yet we are undernourished. How can it be? Because cooked food lacks greatly the necessary elements and vitamins. And on the contrary, from raw food we get ten times more energy. That’s why having eaten something yammi-yammi which is processed, very soon we want to put something inside again. We are obsessed with cooked food, we are dependent on it, we are foodoholics.

And it is important to underline, that when we put even a tiny piece of food in our stomach, the process of elimination is immediately stopped. That’s why those constantly chewing something are in very dangerous position, as the process of elimination of toxins is suppressed almost all the time. And that’s why we are advised to eat only two times a day (preferably at noon and around 6pm) and no snacks in between.

What happens if a person using drugs is deprived of them? He craves for them by all means. The same mechanism works with processed foods. Toxins and poisons released while digesting cooked foods require more toxins, alcohol very well accompany it. Evil circle. And soon after 30 years our poor body is actually overstuffed with poisons, toxins and other waste. Our organism is depositing them first in fatty tissues, and when they are full, there is no other place to store them, as in important and vital organs, and then we fall ill. First we have relatively small health problems, but the more toxins are accumulated, the more serious diseases we acquire. And fast is the most radical and efficient method of getting rid of these toxins (and deceases apparently). If we are able to face the problem and not to look after some magic pills which would save us. For our sins we have to pay full price.

What diseases can be cured by fasting? Practically any. If you can not be healed through fasting you can not be healed at all!

So, you read a few books on the subject and became aware of the necessity to do something for your body, you decided to fast. The question is – how to proceed correctly, how to avoid common mistakes and inflict harm to your precious body.

Strictly saying, the most important part in fasting are preparation to it and way out of it. No one should skip these stages, if he really wants to regain health without any harm done to himself. Forget about quick results, hurry slowly, you spent dozens of years damaging your health, but you may resume excellent health in much shorter time, still it will be many months and even a few years.

What does the preparation to fasting include?

I take an average layman as a model, without very serious decease, 30-50 years old. (Those in a very serious condition might need an emergency plan, which will be very stressful for the organism and not 100% successful, but when official medicine declares you having no chances of survival, fasting has at least 50% chances of recovery). One with great desire and intention to be healthy.

First of all you should cancel all foods containing meat products. It’s not easy, but the thought whether to die relatively young suffering in pain from deceases, being a load to your loved ones, or – live long happily, full of vigour, even in intimate relations when others can hardly move – should prevail. Once you managed to spend 5 weeks without meat (and putting the skids under the old habit and switching to a new one takes approximately 40 days), start omitting other harmful products: bread, pastries, sweats, chocolate, coffee, tea, eggs, butter, pasteurized milk and milk products(practically – everything that is denatured and full of preserving, conserving agents, different Es, etc). Simultaneously, after you ditched meat products from your menu, start the purge of your large intestine by the following regime: first week use enema daily, second week– once in two days, third week– once in three days, forth week – once a week and the rest of your life – once in a week, if you will not manage to adopt raw, preferably monotrophic diet.

There exist polar views on using enema in naturopathic circles. Some are stating that it is unnatural for the humans as it does not exist in wild nature. I am inclined to stick to those who consider that unnatural habits (consuming cooked food, which does not exist in the wild) require unnatural methods to get rid of the consequences of such habit. The more that it greatly quickens the process of elimination of wastes and takes a huge load off the body.

Concerning colonics which is a trend of the modern times, I think it to be too radical a method, it is better to move step by step, cleansing the stomach little by little, changing our milieu interieur(inner environment) by stages, phase after phase. If we make too sharp swerves (and that relates not only to this), usually our organism tends to regain the previous balance, and we feel exhaustion by the failure to reach a cherished result. Though, if you are young, it may work. Actually, for young people an abrupt switch to something new, is a good choice and workable.

How to use enema correctly? The best substance to be used is own urine diluted with some boiled water to make it warm or, if that is unacceptable, use warm boiled water with a tablespoon of salt and teaspoon of lemon juice (they prevent absorbing the water through the lining of the intestine). Fill the vessel with it, hang it on a shower stand, take the knees-elbows position in your tub, adjust the head of the hose into the anal opening with your hand and allow the liquid to flow in. Breath deeply and rapidly to produce the sucking effect to promote easy consumption of the liquid into the intestine. When the procedure is finished, step out of the tub, lie down in the corridor close to the bath, prop your legs against the wall and raise your pelvis as well, shake them a bit, stay for 1-2 min. in that position, that will allow the liquid to pass through the descending into the traverse colon. Then lower your legs onto the floor, lie in that position for a minute and turn on your right side in embryo position (legs perpendicular your torso), stay so for another 2 minutes, that will allow the liquid to move further down the ascending colon and cecum. After completing this stages lie on your back relaxed for another couple of minutes and then turn on your left side for a minute, which will allow the liquid to move back. That’s it. Stand up and promptly secure your place on the loo. Allow enough time for the procedure as the content from your intestine will not get out in one go, there will be several of them, in between try to move briskly, jump up, that will help the voiding process. When you feel that nothing is left inside you can take a shower, and very advisable is a contrasting one, starting with cold and finishing clod as well(4 cold and 3 hot for men, 3+3 for women is the ideal correlation). Et voila! You made it!

But this is not the end of the purge. At least your liver should be cleansed as well. To conduct this procedure, do not eat the whole day, drink only water. Around 7pm drink 150-200 gr. of both virgin olive oil and freshly squeezed lemon or grapefruit juice, drink them in turns by small sips. You even may feel nausea after completing the intake of it – but that is the price we pay for our sins. Rest, put something warm on your liver. In a few hours you will feel the need to go to toilet. Watch carefully what was stored in your poor liver. I would advise to make such evacuation as doubles(another one conducted in a day).

Only now you are relatively ready to start the fast itself.

To start with, do 36-48 hours fasting once a week for a month at least(Actually it is not a fast as such, just the rest and relaxation for your body). The day before and after the fast, eat only fresh fruits and juices, though you may include a salad if hunger prevails you. During the fast you drink only water, as much as you need, range may be from a litre to 2-3, depending on your constitution. Do not force yourself to more than you really want, gallons of water will put additional load on your organs. Concerning water, ideally it should be live water from a well, but too few can enjoy it, so, in urban conditions we can have only defrozen water(put filtered water in a vessel into the freezer, take it out when it is iced, defreeze and remove whatever is on the surface. Then carefully pour it in a jar, around ¾ of it, salts on bottom should not be stirred and certainly not used, throw the rest. The other choice of water to be drunk is the distilled one. Personally, I adhere to the defrozen water, as it regains its natural structure and is easy to prepare.

Next month include into your weekly short fasts a 3-5 days one. Stay on fresh fruits and juices for 2-3 days before and after the fast. The next month include a 5-7 days fast, with 3-4 days on fruits and juices before and after. And the next month you can have a 7-10 days fast. When you feel confident you may try a longer fast. The most beneficial to cleansing your body are 3 to 4 weeks long fasts, but we must keep in our mind, that long fasts are dwindling our “élan vital”, vital force of our organism. So it is better not to indulge into very long fasts, instead, more sensible would be to exercise middle-termed fasts(7-10 days), probably once in 2 months (here you should follow your instincts). Though, a long fast produce more effects than 3 short ones. It would be correct to say that the younger and relatively healthier a person is the long fasts are appropriate. And if you are over 40-50 and loaded with a couple of diseases, after initial long fasts to drag you from the abyss, it would be sensible to concentrate on 10 days fasts in continuation of your rehabilitation. One or two long fasts during a year may be enough.

First fast will not be easy. Strong appetite, nausea, possible shivering, feeling cold, a white or yellowish coating on your tongue, very unpleasant” acidic” breath, broken night dreams etc – all that is caused by the big amount of toxins released from tissues into the bloodstream. There may appear symptoms of your old diseases. Don’t panic! It is a common, usual thing during a fast, and it means you are being cleansed. The more often you will practise fasting the easier you will endure it. The only symptoms indicating that you should stop fasting due to excessive amount of released toxins which your kidneys and other organs cannot void are: 1)the urine stream is lax, actually hardly dripping and rising amount of water intake does not change the situation, 2)you can not sleep at all. It is preferable to withdraw into a natural environment and fast in the open air, with plenty of sun. It is better to fast in isolation, away from temptations of cooked foods, stresses etc.

There should be different way out from the fast of 7 and more days.

PLEASE NOTE: WAY OUT FROM THE FAST IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE FAST ITSELF!

Usually, even if the fast was terminated with juices, fruits and vegetables, a person feels tremendous appetite, one wants to devour anything he sees, it may be called “ gorge”. This question is often avoided to be discussed. The consequences of this gorge are very serious, actually, sometimes the damage from it may be prevailing the gains of the fast. To prevent a gorge we must start the way out from the fast on exclusively juices from non-starchy fruits(lemon, grapefruit, orange, grape, pineapple, pomegranate, appl), and dilute them with water. After a day or two one can drink juices undiluted, and then one can eat these same fruits, thoroughly masticating them (and we actually should always do so with any food we eat). For a few years I personally could not cope with the gorge myself until I found (Prof. Stoleshnikov) and applied this method, it does work!

When we began fasting we started a big process of releasing toxins from their depots. When we terminated the fast, there exists a big stir-up of toxins ready to leave the tissues, where they were deposited, which are ready to move into the bloodstream. If we want to continue getting rid of them we must keep blood in acid state, that is we should drink non-starchy, preferably citrus juices. And it is better when we protract this period at least as long as the fast itself. The longer we proceed on acid juices the more toxins we evacuate.

After the period of non-starchy juices is the one when we include as well all the rest of the juices from fruits/vegetables and eat them raw for as long as you can, ideally – for the rest of your life. If not, embarking on meaty/fatty /or whatever other diet will eventually, step by step, return you to the position you have been in before: sick, hopeless etc. And, with renewed efforts, you start pouring water out of a holed boat.

You may require hundred of days, even years to void all the toxins we deposited in dozens of years, it will definitely need great persistence and integrity to achieve this goal (and the signs that you finally are clean inside are: glowing eyes, no coating on your tongue(and in gastro-intestinal tract apparently), very good and natural appetite, unbelievable vigour and lightness in your body).
