THE ROLE OF NUTRITIONAL THERAPY IN MAINTAINING OUR HEALTH OR TO BE HEALTHY OR NOT TO BE?

KNOWLEDGE IS PROUD THAT
HE HAS LEARNT SO MUCH,
WISDOM IS HUMBLE THAT
HE KNOWS NO MORE!

Being healthy is a wonderful gift. Health is the most welcome guest in the shabby room of the poor man or in the luxurious premises of the wealthy man.
If anyone is asked whether he wants to be healthy, the answer will be definitely “Yes!” Why is it then that the general health of humanity is deteriorated? Why is it that constant rise of expenditures on National Health Service is viewed as a positive move? Why have chronic diseases become the inseparable companion of man, despite his wishes to be healthy?
The answer is simple: because we ourselves, by our own will, based on ignorance and lack of knowledge, have forgot that we are an integral part of Nature and as such, should follow its laws . But instead we have become the humble slaves of our stomachs.
We forget that we began our evolution as a frugivorous animal and the structure of our organism is geared-up for consumption of plants, fruits and vegetables. Nature has made us pay for eating animal’s albumen with our own health and freedom.
Anatomically and physiologically, a human is different from herbivorous and carnivorous animals. The length of the gastrointestinal tract of man is shorter than that of herbivores, it lacks additional stomachs, where the food is pre-digested by protozoa and bacteria, but it is longer than that of carnivorous animals and not so round. The research undertaken by the famous Russian naturopath Dr. G. Shatalova in the Moscow Zoo, showed that the pH of carnivorous animals is 7,2, of herbivores– 7,6 – 7, 8, and of human – 7,4. The difference between man and herbivorous animals lies in the following: masticating animals eat mainly green parts of plants, relatively poor of proteins and fats and this has predisposed the structure of their gastrointestinal tract, while foods of human species, who is frugivorous, constitute fruits, berries, grains, nuts, seeds and roots – those parts of the plants, where concentration of nutrients is much higher. Some polemize that man is omnivorous and developed this in the process of the evolution. But what can be called meat? Beasts of prey eat raw flesh, which fully preserve all the quality of living food, including that of self-predigestion. A man, on the contrary, consumes just a useless combination of proteins and fats, resulting from its heat-processing . And the ability to eat the flesh of others man discovered only after he had discovered fire, some hundreds thousand years ago. (Let’s bear in mind that Prometeus, who, by legend, had introduced fire to the mankind, has been pecked by the Eagle as a punishment. Appropriate allegory: fire – cooked meat – suffering).Since those ancient times we havn’t got features of the beasts of prey, no claws or fangs have developed, the alkaline reaction in our mouth hasn’t changed.
Our body is a perfect self-repairing entity. It can work restlessly for at least 150-200 years if we don’t spoil and damage it, which we persistently do every day of our life. Despite this, our body manages to continue functioning up to 60, 70 and sometimes 80-100 years. So, what is wrong? And the answer is that we eat food which was not designed by Nature for us, -- actually, no creature on Earth, except a human, is eating heated foods. And eating cooked foods leads to overproducing of all kinds of toxins which block the capillaries, hardens the arteries; the mucus, a by-product of digesting cooked food, in attempt to filtrate the toxins, as well blocks the absorption of nutrients from food. As a result, the work of cells and entire organs is disrupted and distorted. Trying to eliminate the waste, our bodies mobilize all its forces, which we perceive as a disease, -- in fact, the body is desperately fighting for our life. But, after numerous years of valorous efforts, it finally surrender. And we die.

TOXEMIA
J. H. TILDEN, M. D.,an outstanding physician , explained the cause of the diseases with his theory of toxemia, thus showing the way for self-healing. And now it is the proven fact.
The study of pathology--the study of disease--has engaged the best minds in the profession always, and all research workers believe, that a more intense and minute study of the early symptoms of disease will reveal the cause. There is, however, one great reason why it cannot, and that is that all symptom-complexes--diseases--from their initiation to their ending, are effects, and the most intense study of any phase or stage of their progress will not throw any light on the cause.
Cause is constant, ever present, and always the same. Only effects, and the object on which cause acts, change, and the change is most inconstant. To illustrate: A catarrh of the stomach presents first irritation, then inflammation, then ulceration, and finally induration and cancer. Not all cases run true to form; only a small percentage evolve to ulcer, and fewer still reach the cancer stage. More exit by way of acute food-poisoning or acute indigestion than by chronic diseases.
In the early stages of this evolution there are all kinds of discomforts: more or less attacks of indigestion, frequent attacks of gastritis--sick stomach and vomiting. No two cases are alike. Nervous people suffer most, and some present all kinds of nervous symptoms--insomnia, headaches, etc. As the disease progresses, a few become pallid and develop pernicious anemia, due to gastric or intestinal ulceration and putrid protein infection; in others the first appearance of ulcer is manifested by a severe hemorrhage; others have a cachexia and a retention of food in the stomach, which is vomited every two or three days, caused by a partial closing of the pylorus. These are usually malignant cases.
To look upon any of these symptom-complexes as a distinct disease, requiring a distinct treatment, is to fall into the diagnostic maze that now bewilders the profession and renders treatment chaotic.
It should be known that the earliest stage of organic disease is purely functional, evanescent, and never autogenerted so far as the affected organ is concerned, but is invariably due to an extraneous irritation, augmented by Toxemia. When the irritation is not continuous, and toxin is eliminated as fast as developed, to the toleration point, normal functioning is resumed between the intervals of irritation and toxin excess.
For example: a simple coryza (running at the nose--cold in the head), gastritis or colonitis. At first these colds, catarrahs, or inflammations are periodic and functional; but, as the exciting cause or causes--local irritation and Toxemia--become more intense and continuous, the mucous membranes of these organs take on organic changes, which are given various names, such as irritation, inflammation, ulceration, and cancer. The pathology (organic change) may be studied until doomsday without throwing any light on the cause; for from the first irritation to the extreme ending--cachexia--which may be given the blanket term of tuberculosis, syphilis, or cancer, the whole pathologic panorama is one continuous evolution of intensifying effects.
Germs and other so-called causes may be discovered in the course of pathological development, but they are accidental, coincidental, or at most auxiliary.
The proper way to study disease is to study health and every influence favourable or not to its continuance. Disease is perverted health. Any influence that lowers nerve-energy becomes disease-producing. Disease cannot be its own cause; neither can it be its own cure, and certainly not its own prevention.
A poisoned or injured body, when not overwhelmed by Toxemia. would speedily return to the normal, and when it did not, there was a sick habit--a derangement of some kind--that required some such contingency to bring it within sense-perception.
To illustrate: An injury to a joint is often complicated with rheumatism; the rheumatism previous to the injury was potentially in the blood.
All disease, of whatever nature, is of slow development; that without systemic preparation even acute systemic diseases can not manifest.
According to the Toxin Philosophy, every so-called disease is a crisis of Toxemia; which means that toxin has accumulated in the blood above the toleration-point, and the crisis, the so-called disease--call it cold, "flu," pneumonia, headache, or typhoid fever--is a vicarious elimination. Nature is endeavoring to rid the body of toxin. Any treatment that obstructs this effort at elimination baffles nature in her effort at self-curing.
Drugs, feeding, fear, and keeping at work prevent elimination. A cold is driven into chronic catarrh; "flu" may be forced to take on an infected state; pneumonia may end fatally if secretions are checked by drugs. Every disease is a complex of symptoms signifying a crisis of Toxemia--nature's house-cleaning. When Doctor Nature is allowed full control-- all acute diseases can be cured; and the patient will stay cured if he will practice self-control concerning the enervating habits that brought on his crises of Toxemia. Cancer, tuberculosis, Bright's disease, and all chronic diseases were once innocent colds "ameliorated," and which returned and were "ameliorated" again and again; each time accompanied by a greater constitutional enervation, and a greater constitutional toleration for toxin-poisoning, requiring a greater requisition of mucous membrane through which to eliminate the toxin. As soon as Toxemia is controlled, all diseases disappear, unless an organ has been forced by innumerable crises to degenerate. Even organic change, when the organ is not destroyed, will be overcome by correcting the life and getting rid of the cause--crises of Toxemia.
The Toxemic Philosophy is founded on the truth that there is no such thing as cure. In this it differs from all the curing systems. Every pretense or promise of cure, in all lines of therapeutics, is false. It should not be forgotten that unobstructed free drainage from wounds, ulcers, canals, ducts, keep them aseptic (non-poisonous). The deadly germ on the hands, lips, drinking-cups, hanging-straps of street cars--in fact, found anywhere and everywhere--is not deadly until it gets mixed up with man's deadly dirty, filthy physical and mental habits. The deadly germ must be mixed with retained, pent-up waste-products before it becomes metamorphosed into its deadly toxic state. The dog or other animal licks it out of his wound. When the "deadly germ" is osculated into the mouth, and from there into the stomach, it is digested. The normal secretions of the body, on the outside as well as on the inside of the body, are more than enough to get away with all the "deadly germs" allotted to each person.
Normal persons are deadly to all germs and parasites peculiar to the human habitat.
Nature needs no remedy--she needs only an opportunity to exercise her own prerogative of self-healing.
Cancer is the culmination of years of abuse of nutrition, and years of Toxemia from faulty elimination. Forcing the bowels to move is an old and conventional method of so-called elimination which gets rid of the accumulation in the bowels, causing an extra amount of water to be thrown out by the kidneys and bowels; but this forcing measure adds to enervation by its overstimulation, and further inhibits elimination proper--elimination of waste-products in the blood, the source of all disease-producing toxins. The most powerful eliminant is a fast. In other words, give nature rest, and she needs no so-called cures. Rest means: poise mind and body, and fast. Nature then works without handicaps, unless fear is created by all the old fear-mongers, professional and lay, sending to the patient the warning: "It is dangerous to fast; you may never live through it.But there is a vast difference between fasting and starving.
Without nerve-energy the functions of the various organs of the body cannot be carried on. Secretions are necessary for preparing the building-up material to take the place of worn-out tissue. The worn-out tissue must be removed--eliminated--from the blood as fast as it is formed, or it accumulates, and, as it is toxic, the system will be poisoned. This becomes a source of enervation.
Elimination of the waste-products of tissue-building is just as necessary as the building-up process. As these two important functions depend on each other, and as both depend on the proper amount of nerve-energy to do their work well, it behooves all people who would enjoy life and health to the full to understand in what way they may be frugal in using nerve-energy so that they may learn how to live conservatively or prudently, thereby enjoying the greatest mental and physical efficiency, and also the longest life.
Nerve-energy and good money are the commodities that are spent very rapidly these days. Chasing the monies causes great waste of energy; and it has been chased so much that it has developed wanderlust to such a degree that men enervate themselves catching up with a few, but prostrate themselves endeavoring to break them of their wander-habit. There are many ways to use up nerve-energy.
Without nerve-energy the functions of the body cannot be carried on properly. The present-day strenuousness causes enervation, which checks elimination, and the retained toxins bring on Toxemia.
Everything that acts on the body uses up energy. Cold and heat require the expenditure of nerve-energy to adjust the body to the changes.
Work with worry will soon end in flagging energy -- enervation.
As no provision is made for the demand of an extra supply of energy at a given time, it is necessary, very necessary, to know how to conserve what we have and build more. Every cure in its very nature causes enervation. Even the drugs used to relieve pain end in making a greater pain, and sometimes kill. The drugs to relieve cough in pneumonia sometimes kill the patient. Removing stone from the gall-bladder does not cure the cause, and more stones form.
Rest from habits that enervate is the only way to put nature in line for curing. Sleep and rest of body and mind are necessary to keep a sufficient supply of energy.
Enervation per se is not disease. Weakness, lost power, is not disease; but, by causing a flagging of the elimination of tissue-waste, which is toxic, the blood becomes charged with toxin, and this we call Toxemia--poison in the blood. This is disease, and when the toxin accumulates beyond the toleration-point, a crisis takes place; which means that the poison is being eliminated. This we call disease, but it is not. The only disease is Toxemia, and what we call diseases are the symptoms produced by a forced vicarious elimination of toxin through the mucous membrane.
When the elimination takes place through the mucous membrane of the nose, it is called a cold--catarrh of the nose; and where these crises are repeated for years, the mucous membrane thickens and ulcerates, and the bones enlarge, closing the passage, etc. At this stage hay-fever or hay-asthma develops. When the throat and tonsils, or any of the respiratory passages, become the seat of the crises of Toxemia, we have croup, tonsilitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia, etc. What is in a name? All are symptoms of the expulsion of toxin from the blood at the different points named, and are essentially of the same character and evolving from the one cause namely, Toxemia--crises of Toxemia.
This description can be extended to every organ of the body; for any organ that is enervated below the average standard from stress of habit, from work or worry, from injury, or from whatever cause, may become the location of crises of Toxemia.
All diseases are the same fundamentally.Their cause travels back to Toxemia, caused by enervation, which checked elimination; and enervating habits of body and mind are the primary causes of lost resistance enervation.
Every chronic disease starts with Toxemia and a toxemic crisis. The crises are repeated until organic changes take place. The chain of symptoms range from cold or catarrh to Bright's disease, tuberculosis, cancer, syphilis, and other diseases; all, from beginning to end, symptoms of the cumulative effects of crises of Toxemia.

ENZYMES
A living organism and its enzymes are inhabited by a vital principle or life energy. The enzyme complex harbours a protein carrier inhabited by a vital energy factor, which is exhaustible. Also, the capacity of a living organism to produce enzymes is limited and exhaustible.
Thought for many years as catalysts, enzymes are much more than that. Catalysts work by chemical action only, while enzymes function by both biological and chemical action. Catalysts do not contain the ' life element', which can be measured as a kind of radiation, emitted by enzymes. This can be demonstrated by biological means and other methods (the Mitogenetic Rays of Gurwitsch, Kirlion Electro-Magnetic Photography, Rothen's Enzyme Action at a Distance, Visual Micro Observation of Working Enzymes).
Enzymes contain proteins and some contain vitamins which have been synthesized by chemists, however, the 'life force' of the enzymes cannnot and has never been synthesized. So, the enzymes are protein carriers charged with vital energy (just as car battery consists of metal plates charged with electrical energy).
In 1930's there were known 80 enzymes, in 1957 – 660, in 1968 – 1300, and by today there are thousands of them identified and more to be discovered.
There are 3 classes of enzymes: metabolic enzymes, which run our bodies, digestive enzymes, which digest our food and food enzymes from raw foods, which start food digestion.
The metabolic enzymes run all our organs and tissues, they structure proteins, fats and carbohydrates into healthy bodies, keeping everything working properly. Every organ and tissue has different metabolic enzymes and every of them has a particular specialized job to do (One molecule of the enzyme called 'catalase', found in the blood, will split five million molecules of hydrogen peroxide into molecules of water and oxygen in a mere 60 seconds. Some intestinal enzymes can break up a million times their weight in sugar and fat).
Digestive enzymes have only three main jobs to do: digesting proteins(enzymes called proteases do this job), carbohydrate(amylases do this) and fats(upasas do this job).
The digestive enzymes of humans are much stronger and more concentrated in enzyme activity than any of the metabolic enzymes – more than any other combination found in nature. There is no evidence that wild animals, living on natural raw diet, have digestive enzymes even remotely approaching the strength of those of human beings. Only humans live on enzyme-free food itself. All wild creatures get their enzymes supplement in the raw food itself. Many animals( cats and dogs, cattle and sheeps, horses) have no enzymes at all in their saliva. But when dogs are fed on heat treated diet, enzymes show up in their saliva within a week!
Back in 1943,the physiological laboratory of North Western University made experiments on rats and they showed that the amount of digestive enzymes secreted by the pancreas depended on the amount of food consumed; since then it was confirmed by dozens of university laboratories throughout the world.
Food enzymes ( found only in raw living food itself) help with digestion instead of forcing the body's digestive enzymes to carry the job. When food enzymes are at work, the enzymes' potential can allot less activity to digestive enzymes and can concentrate it on metabolic enzymes to run the entire body. It'e like with bank account, which can be dangerously deficient, if not continually replenished.
The heat, used in cooking, destroys all food enzymes and forces the organism to produce more enzymes, thus enlargingn digestive organs, especially pancreas. When excessive amount of digestive enzymes is made, the enzyme potential may be unable to produce an adequate quantity of metabolic enzymes to repair body organs and fight disease.
If humans take in more exogenous (outside) enzymes, which are in raw food, the enzymes potential will not have to waste so much of its heritage digesting food, it will act to maintain health and prevent disease.
We are careless with enzymes. They are the most precious asset we possess. In an experiment in 1944, young rats and chickens were fed raw soybeans(high in enzymes inhibitors) and huge quantities of panctreatic digestive enzymes were wasted combating the inhibitors, the pancreas enlarged to handle the extra burden and the animals sickened and failed to grow. That was since proved in dozens of scientific laboratories.
Animals, such as cattle and sheep, get along with a pancreas about a third as large as ours(figured as a percentage of the body weight) on their raw food diet. Laboratory mice fed on heat-processed, enzyme-free food, have pancreas 2 to 3 times heavier than in wild mice eating raw food, full of enzymes. When laboratory mice are put on enzyme-rich raw food, their pancreas gets only about a third as heavy as in those on enzyme-free diet.
Wastage of body enzymes can have a deadly effect on organism, as proved in the experiment at Washington University: When dogs were equipped with fistulae(tubes) to drain all pancreatic juices out of body, while they received food and water – profound deterioration sat in and all of them died. Acute human intestinal obstruction has been resulting in death within 3 to 5 days. It is a remarkable fact that preventing of bile to enter the intestines is not fatal in man or laboratory animals, because no enzymes are wasted in this instance.
Cattle and sheeps have 4 stomachs and only 1 secrets enzymes, the others allow food enzymes in food to digest itself. In humans, when raw food with its enzymes is eaten, it goes to the upper portion of the stomach ( which does not produce enzymes) and is digested there by food enzymes for 30-60 minutes. If the food is enzyme-free, nothing happens to it, it just idles there all this time, only salivary enzymes work on carbohydrates, but proteins and fats must wait until they are moved further on, and then digestive enzymes do the job instead of food enzymes.
Thus, enzymes potential is spent digesting, instead of supplying metabolic functions. Raw food does not stimulate enzyme secretion as much as cooked food, more digestion is performed by food enzymes. When food enzymes do this work, this results in normalizing and lessening the strength of excessively high digestive enzyme secretion.
So, using cooked food, we waste our enzyme potential, our exhaustible 'life force'.

Nature’s rule is that – LIFE SHALL FEED UPON LIFE!
Most people think that adult bodies are built once and for all and that food is just a fuel. This is far from true, because our bodies are composed of individual cells like the bricks of a building, each cell having its own life and death. These cells are constantly wearing out a few at a time, dying and being replaced by new cells, utilizing mostly new material taken from our food. Nature has given us glorious ability to rebuild ourselves day by day from food we eat. So, if we improve our food our bodies gradually become finer, stronger and better looking. Surely, younger people react faster and have a greater range of potential improvement, but it is never too late to make a worthwhile betterment, while life remains. Experimental feeding of animals and humans has shown that dramatic improvements even in old debilitated individuals can be made in a few month by feeding fresh living food.
Let’s see what unharnessed scientists of medicine think and what are the scientific results, proving that raw food is our natural food, not cooked one.
Dr. Roy Walford, a well-respected medical research gerontologist, scientifically demonstrated that a qualitative life span up to at least 115 years of age is reasonably attainable by the average person if he starts working on it no later than being 50 years old(raw nutrition, water fasts, exercises).
Dr. G.T. Wrench, who studied the people of Hunza, famous for the longitude and perfect health back in 1930’s, emphasized: “ Of all factors which make for human health the greatest single factor is adequate nutrition. This simply means that however excellent housing, clothing, sanitation, exercise performance, inadequate nutrition such as still prevails in Britain will continue to cause widespread disease.”

EXPERIMENTAL DATA.
Among the first scientists to study cooking in its application to animal nutrition were Weill and Mouriquant of France. In 1912 they conducted experiments with pigeons to determine effects of cooked food. Pigeons fed on raw grains showed great activity and vigour, those given cooked grains developed beriberi and all died paralyzed within 90 days.
The celebrated British scientist, Sir Robert McCarrison, while Director of Nutritional Research in India in 1920’-30’s, confirmed in a long programme of research on 2000 rats, that those fed on healthy diet of Sikhs and Hunza (raw cabbage, carrots, milk, meat, unleavened bread and sprouted legumes) showed all the signs of vibrant health, were gentle and affectionate. While those given food, identical to that typical for poor class British (tinned meat, boiled potato and cabbage, white bread, margarine, jam, much sweetened tea) – resulted in poor physique, widespread respiratory infections and gastrointestinal degeneration in rat colonies. Rats given uncooked food for 2 and a quarter years (which is corresponding to 55 years in man), showed after autopsy no disease whatsoever. Those fed on cooked one developed practically every ailment found in any medical textbook, and in addition they seemed to be affected mentally, became ill-tempered and vicious, they would bite the attendant, killed each other and were in a state of continuous nervous irritability!
Dr. McCarrison’s other experiments with monkeys showed similar results, with those on cooked diet developing troubles from the very start and dying within 43 to 100 days.
Experiments with guinea pigs, fed with cooked food, conducted by Dr. O. Stiner from Swiss Board of Health in Berne, showed that large number of diseases appeared (softening of teeth and jaws, goitre, anaemia etc.) and when pasteurized milk was added, guinea pigs developed arthritis; most of them died of scurvy and some of cancer.
Perhaps the most important of all the animal experiments with raw and cooked foods are those of Dr. Francis Pottenger, Jr., one of the world’s great physicians and food scientist. At his sanatorium in Monrovia, California, he conducted experiments with white rats and cats covering 10-years period. In a group of 900 cats studied, the following results were obtained: those fed on raw food(meat and milk) remained in excellent health from one generation to the next, physical development was perfect, abortion occurred very seldom, all mother cats nursed their young in a normal manner, death resulted only from old age or injuries sustained in fighting, NONE died from disease. Cats fed on cooked meat and pasteurized milk didn’t reproduce in homogeneity, each kitten being of a different skeletal pattern, dental conditions deteriorated from one generation to next, severe impairment of bone composition was observed, reproductive efficiency was greatly lowered, abortion ran from 25% in the first generation to 70% in the second, deliveries were very difficult and many cats died in labour, often mother was unable to lactate, some failed to become pregnant; in males there was disturbance of genital development, sterility was so common that raw-food males had to be used for breeding purposes. Development of the secondary sexual characteristics was incomplete. The degree of masculinity and femininity was lessened and cats of both sexes tended to become more neutral in appearance, sex interest was very slack, in many cases it was perverted, with some cats developing in true homosexuals. Most were very irritable and occasionally viciously bite the keeper, skin lesions and allergies became worse from one generation to the next. No cats survived the sixth month of life in the third generation. Those fed on sweetened condensed milk produced the most marked deficiencies of all. (Do you notice any signs of resemblance concerning modern life?)
Some cats, which were fed cooked food, would be placed upon a completely raw diet, continued in subsequent generations: improvements in resistance to disease was noticed in the first and the second generation in the “regenerating” animals, though there were still allergic manifestation and reproduction was erratic. In the third generation there was considerable further improvements and by the fourth generation some of the animals returned to completely normal skeletal and tissue form.
From these experiments, as well as all other*, results of feeding raw and cooked foods become apparent: almost without exception, animals thrive well upon an exclusive diet of raw foods. And with general uniformity they immediately suffer from various forms of deterioration – physical,
• * (Dr.R.Wulzen & A.Bahrs of Oregon State College, Dr. E. Scott & Prof. L. Erf of Ohio State Univ-ty, English scientists Mattick & Golding, investigators S. sexual, and mental – when given cooked foods. The degree of damage varies with different animals, but in no instance have large quantities of heat-processed foods been consumed over a long period of time without some harm being observed. The contrast is clearly seen in all cases, with different animals used, and shows that the result may be accepted as a general principle.
And the consequences of eating cooked food are that not only excessive toxaemia and all kinds of diseases develop as its result – these toxins and poisons, stacked in our tissues, crave for other stimulants and that is why when we consume heat-processed meal, we as well readily absorb tea, coffee and alcohol.
Dr. Roger Williams states that those who stick to natural nutrition don’t become alcoholics. He made series of experiments with rats and proved that processed meal make them alcoholics, when rats prefer alcohol to water, but when the diet returned to raw food the craving for alcohol disappeared..
The similar results were obtained by researchers of University of L. Linda in California – rats became mad for alcohol when fed cooked foods. Other data prove this as well.
Man is a part of Nature and the same results were obtained concerning raw and cooked food in relation with its effect on human’s health.
Minerals and vitamins must be found in an organic combination with other food nutrients if they are to be used efficiently by the body. We must rely on the plants to synthesize the minerals of the earth into combinations, which are entirely non-toxic. In the presence of heat certain nutrients are destroyed and hence the delicate chemical balance is altered. Evidence of this is seen by the fact that leukocytosis, an increase in the number of white corpuscules of the blood, follows the exclusive consumption of cooked foods, which means lowering of immunity. Dr.Paul Kouchakoff of the Institute of Clinical Chemistry in Lausanne, conducted some 300 detailed experiments which indicated that leukocytosis was the specific effect of eating heat-processed food and never occurred after a meal of raw food.
All cooked foods undergo important changes, they lose a part of their mineral and vitamin content, their proteins are partly destroyed and rendered less digestible and nutritious, their fats become toxic, the starches and sugars are altered and food lose all of their enzymes and become toxic.
Dr. MacDonald, medical Officer to Dr. Barnardo’s Homes in England, reported that among 750 children who were given pasteurized milk for a period of 5 years, 14 cases of tuberculosis developed, another 750 boys, given raw milk with the same other conditions – only 1 case was registered.
From letter signed by 8 Members of Parliament, concerning report of Medical Officer of Health for Hertfordshire, we read: ”During 1932 there were 45 deaths in all from surgical tuberculosis…In 13 rural districts where the whole supply is in the hands of small retailers of raw milk. There were no deaths at all during the year from surgical tuberculosis.”
Prof. Jaffa of the University of South California, made a study of a number of families, who, for religious, ethical or scientific reasons, subsisted almost entirely upon raw fruits and nuts. He found them to be in excellent health, with unusual freedom from colds and other ailments. Subsequent observations of families living upon raw foods have indicated much the same. Many have reported a rapid improvement in health after adopting the raw diet, with the remedy of severe and long-standing diseases.
The famous adherent of healthy food Dr. Sylvester Graham and his many thousands of followers survived the epidemic of cholera in America in 1830’s with no cases of disease reported among them.
There are many more data clearly showing that raw food not only prolong very considerably human’s life but as well cure man from practically all diseases.
Dr. Kristine Nolfi of Denmark, who developed cancer and recovered excellent health after treating herself with an exclusive raw diet, opened sanatorium “Humlegaarten” and treated around 1000 patients annually with phenomenal success on a diet of raw foods. Patients recovered from all manner of disease, including cancer, sterility, obesity, diabetes, heart debilitation, high blood pressure, rheumatism, epilepsy, asthma and many others. Dr. Nolfi stated:” Raw diet cures not only diseases contracted during our life but also those determined by hereditary predisposition.”
Similar results were achieved by Dr.K.Eimer, of University Medical Clinic at Marburg-Lahn, Dr.Joseph Evers in Germany, who reported 42% improvements or complete recovery in 600 cases of multiple sclerosis. German physicians Friedrich and Peters treated many very severe cases of liver cirrhosis. Dr. Hare of the Royal Free Hospital in England, placed arthritis patients on an exclusive raw diet and most of them began to feel better within one to four weeks, with marked improvements continuing thereafter. Dr. Kinderheilk found that raw diet helped in avotaminosis, nephrites, diabetes, chronic constipation. Dr. Heupe, of the University Medical Polyclinic in Frankfurt, reported the diet to aid in diarrhea, heart and kidney diseases, obesity and diabetes. Dr. Kuratsune, of the Kyushu University, Japan, reported curing by raw diet anaemia and other diseases, which failed to yield to conventional medical care.
Even much more better results in curing diseases are achieved when raw diet is combined with fasting.
Dr. Henry G. Bieler in his book ‘Food is your best medicine” very well expressed his view on the subject: “ As a practising physician for over 50 years, I have reached 3 basic conclusions as to the cause and cure of disease. The first – it is caused by a toxemia which results in cellular impairment and breakdown, second – is that in almost all cases the use of drugs is harmful. My third conclusion is that disease can be cured through the proper use of correct food. These conclusions are based on experimental results, gathered through years of successfully treating patients. Today we are not only in the Atomic Age but also the Antibiotic Age, and this is, unhappily, the Dark Age of Medicine – when many of my colleagues, confronted with a patient, consult a big volume containing thousands of drugs to decide which one to choose. I disagree with doctors who stuff the sick, exhausted man with powerful toxic drugs and then are forced to use other drugs to “remedy the remedy”, instead I “fast” the patient on simple vegetables or fruit juices to discharge their waste products and allow the nature heal them. Improper foods cause disease, proper ones cure it”.
Sir William Osler, one of the most brilliant physicians of recent times said:” The young physician starts life with 20 drug for each disease and the old physician ends life with one drug for 20 diseases” and this drug is correct nutrition and fasting, we see this in Hippocrates’ precept that ‘”Nature heals; the physician is only nature’s assistant”.
Dr. Arnold Ehret in his book “Rational Fasting” wrote: “ After a 2-years strict fruit-diet with intercalated fasting cures, I had attained a degree of health which is simply not imaginable nowadays: With the knife I made an incision in my lower arm, -- there was no flow of blood as it thickened instantaneously, closing up of the wound, no inflammation, no pain, no mucus and pus, it healed up in 3 days; later, with vegetaric food, including mucus-forments(starch) – the wound bled a little, some pain and pus, little inflammation, pain; after the same wound, with meat-food and some alcohol – long bleeding, inflammation, pain, pus for several days, healing only after 2 days’ fast. I was no longer in need of a handkerchief, a chronic inflammation of the kidneys, considered deadly wasn’t only healed but I enjoyed the immense degree of health – I could run for 150 minutes non-stop or make endurance march of 56 hours duration.”
Dr. Henry S. Tanner, who called himself the father of fasting in USA, treated himself with long fasts(40, 42 days) after collapsing, with all symptoms of illness disappearing after 10 days of fast and regained excellent health after finishing it. He practised “natural methods” for 42 years.
It is interesting to know how Dr. E.H.Dewey ,who practised fasting in treating patients and himself, became aware of the fasting cure. He was called to treat a patient with typhoid fever. The patient couldn’t eat anything, so Dr. Dewey just supervised him and determined that on the 34th day of forced fast the patient began to eat and fully recovered. (Actually, in wild nature all animals which get sick or injured immediately stop eating to allow their bodies to heal themselves).
Dr. Linda Hazzard started fasting, being ill from mercury pills, given in her childhood, and then applied fasting in treating her patients with excellent results. And cases, incurable by medical physicians, were full success.
Dr. W A. Evans stated:” Fasting is a remedial agent of enormous power”.
And certainly, fasting and raw nutrition must be accompanied by other means: special exercises and physical activity, fresh air, water procedures etc. and probably the main – the change in one’s world’s perception, the change in one’s thoughts.
There are many more doctors and researchers all over the world who in their practice in clinics and sanatoria, as well as on themselves, proved that raw food diet and fasting is the most powerful tool eliminating all kinds of diseases( A.Aterov, Prof. G.Shatalova, Prof. Y.Nicolaev, prof. Stoleshnikov, Dr.K.Sidhwa, Dr. Moser, etc., not to mention well-publicised Paul Bragg and Dr. Herbert.Shelton ).
All these facts are published. But the general public is still mostly unaware of. Every day, year after year, from TV screens and advertising boards we hear – take this pill and pain will be gone, take that pill and you will be slim, take the new wonder-pill and you will be healthy. Unfortunately, they can sometimes only alleviate the symptoms and suppress the disease but not cure it. We need to take responsibility for our life into our own hands.
The reality is simple: money rule the world. In the incessant race for profit we forgot that we are supposed to eat to live, not live to eat. Until a serious disease forces us to understand that whatever material we gain in social life is nothing compared with health and life itself!
It is not so easy to change one’s life-style, eating habits. It requires a very huge effort, as we are deadly stuck in our habits and customs! (And I do know it myself, as I managed to switch to fasting and raw food with immense difficulty, in order to cure my arthritis). The head of a clinic specialising on fasting and raw diet admitted sadly that even facing death, only about 2% of patients who underwent the treatment continued to follow it after getting better. And if you don’t continue the disease will quickly returns back.
I, as many thousands, managed to become healthy again. So can anyone!
